There are many types of depression, such as: seasonal affective disorder, postpartum, atypical, bipolar, chronic and major depression. Some forms, like SAD and postpartum depression, are temporary; while others, notably major depression, can continue for years.
Symptoms of all types of depression may include concentration and memory problems, fatigue, feelings of guilt or worthlessness, feelings of hopelessness or pessimism, sleep problems, change in appetite, loss of interest in typically pleasurable activities, and thoughts or attempts of suicide.

Homeopathy can be a valuable tool in healing depression. If you are on medication for depression, you should continue to take it in the early stages of your homeopathic treatment. Homeopaths, unless they are also medical doctors, are not qualified to reduce your medication. After you start to feel better, you can begin to work with your doctor to gradually wean off of the drugs.
During the homeopathic interview, you will be asked to describe your experience of depression, and a remedy will be chosen that is specific to you. The remedy strengthens you so your brain chemistry gradually begins to balance naturally. And because homeopathy treats all of you, you will feel better physically as well.
